In late 2014, Kaneland United SC, along with other area youth sports programs, was invited by Blackberry Township and the Kane County Forest Preserve to participate in planning meetings to develop youth athletic fields in the Township.
The Club is excited to be working on this project and see it as an opportunity to achieve some key goals, including bringing together all of our programs at a single site, making it easier for our families, and bringing certainty to the Club for field access.
In recent years, the Club has had to adapt to a number of field issues, including 2013 & 2015 flooding during the spring season and in fall 2014, emergency construction to repair a natural gas pipeline located adjacent to the soccer fields at Kaneland High School.
The McNair 2 site is located along Bateman Rd, just south of the current McNair baseball fields and near the intersection of Route 47 and Main St. The land was acquired by and will be owned by the
Kane County Forest Preserve with
Blackberry Township coordinating the various youth sports programs and taking a leading role in organizing development of the site.
It is the responsibility of our Club to submit a plan for development of a portion of the land for soccer use and to provide field maintenance, including mowing, lining and other soccer related activities. This includes funding to make the location usable for soccer.
Follow this page to stay up to date on progress and the Club is excited by the opportunity to work with the community, Blackberry Township and the Kane County Forest Preserve to create a much needed location for youth sports.
